The 2019 El Framo Gift Guide

Christmas is approching!

The trees are going up, the malls are filling up, and we are all getting excited for some time off.

But first comes first - the big day. And if you’re stuck for ideas, we’re here to help!

We’re already getting pretty busy in the workshop, but we still have capacity before the end of the year. If you get inspired from the article, don’t hesitate to get in touch! We’ll do our best to help you out right up until the 25th.

1. Kids art frames

We know the dilemma - every week the kids bring home a new piece of art from kindy or school, and want to put it on the fridge, but you’ve already got paintings coming out your ears, and only one fridge.

The solution is our Kids Art Frames. Specially designed for your talented little artists, these frames pop open like a little cabinet making it super easy to switch out. All you need to do is open the front and pin the artwork in! Your kids get the pride of seeing their paintings framed up on the wall, and you get a clear fridge for shopping lists and funky magnets and all the other things you have to keep track of.

2. An awesome Print

If you want to give someone special something as special as they are, a print that they can admire and appreciate for years to come (decades even) is the way to go. 

We have some of the best local’s in stock, and still have the capacity in the schedule to frame them up pre-Christmas (but get in quick, time is running out). Worst comes to worst, buy the print, tell them it’s coming, and we will have it framed and ready for them in January after our break. 

3. Photos of the kids

Perfect for Mum, Dad, or the Grandparents, printing and framing a selection of photographs from the year makes for sweet and thoughtful gifts. 

To make it even easier, we can even handle the printing! All you need to do is pick some images and come visit us to choose some frames! We can even do it all via email if you want our standard frames!

4. Family heirlooms - medals etc

The best way to both enjoy and protect family heirlooms is an archival custom frame. With a non-acidic boards and UV glass, your pieces will be nice and safe from the elements and on the wall to enjoy. Maybe your parents have Grandad’s war medals tucked away, or you’ve got your hands on an old family photograph. It’s a sentimental and special gift to give and will be enjoyed by the recipient for years to come (decades if well cared for!).

5. Degree for a recent graduate

Not many recent graduates can afford to frame their degree! We know many who leave them in a drawer for a few years until they can justify the price tag. Our suggestion? Sneakily take it away and do it for them!

6. holiday photographs

Have you and your loved ones gone travelling this year and got some amazing group shots? Or did you do some solo travel and capture some amazing landscapes and street photos? These make awesome gifts. Choose a size, we’ll do the printing, and then you can either custom frame to your hearts content, or choose one of our standard frames for a more affordable (but still high quality) option!

7. that print thats been sitting on the shelf for a few months… or years…

We know, it happens. We all buy art online or while travelling and just never get around to getting it framed (seriously, even us, and we work here). If this sounds like someone you know, sneak it away (they likely won't notice) and frame it for them! It will be a lovely surprise for them when they open the gift, and you’ll know that you’ve given them something they can enjoy for years. 

8. Polaroids/Instax Photographs

We all love the resurgence of the polaroid. A novelty at parties, or something a bit special whilst travelling, we somehow all end up collecting piles of special images whether we have a camera for ourselves or not!

And they are amazing as gifts! Frame one on its own, or frame a series all in the same frame to document an event, trip, or relationship. It’s unique, and heartfelt, but best of all, you probably have heaps of them lying around already! 

9. Gift Vouchers 

Last but not least, if you know someone wants to do some framing but haven’t got the room in their budget, or even if you just have an art crazy friend who is framing things ALL THE TIME (we have many customers like this) then grab them a gift voucher to help them cover the costs.

Picture framing gives someone a gift they can have on their wall for years to come, making it a very special yet practical option.
