4 Kiwi Digital Artists Whose Prints We Love

As the technology available to creatives has evolved, digitally created art has become a dominant force in the print world. Be it digital sketches, or full illustrative creations, the options available have opened up a whole world of opportunity. Artists are no longer limited to creating a piece on paper or canvas, and scanning it into a digital version for reproduction. Full careers have grown from crafting art directly on the computer or iPad, and has forever changed the industry.

We see a lot of different artists work through our doors as you can well image, as well as keeping track of the community on social media, so we thought who better to introduce you to a few Kiwi’s who are creating awesome art to help inspire your next home decor purchase (or present for a loved one with Christmas well on the way!).

All the below artists sell their prints in the standard A sizes, and because of that, they fit perfectly in our new standard frame range, Artefact Frames. You can order online, or purchase in person in the El Framo workshop. The same El Framo quality you all know and love, made into standard sizes frames.

Studio Bon

Bonnie Brown is an illustrator from Wellington. Her commissioned work has been used in packaging, branding and campaigns for so many different brands over the past few years (you might have seen her work around before, or even seen her magazine Counter Journal in your fav shop or cafe!). We’ve been following her for a while and she has just recently re-launched her print store in the lead up to Christmas - such perfect timing for this blog post!

With plans to add to the collection over time, she has just put out a limited release of prints for the time being, but keep checking back with her. Her work is great and would look amazing up on the wall.

Greg Straight

Greg Straight has been an El Framo favourite for years. Working on campaigns for the likes of McDonalds and Nespresso, his work has been taking off the past few years also.

His work captures the essence of many iconic Kiwi locations. They’re perfect to hang at home or at the bach, or for a Kiwi spreading its wings for another land wanting to take a piece of home with them.

We have a selection of his works in store, and can order anything in on your behalf should you want something from the collection we don’t have.

Glenn Jones

Glenn Jones is an artist with a love for classic Kiwi references. With a quirky and humerous take on Kiwiana, his work takes the classic bach, caravan, birds, landscapes, matchboxes, you name it, and creates an awesome talking point for your living room.

His expertise in the industry as a Graphic Designer, along with the support of his talented wife Julia, has made for a great combo in the art world. You may know him for his awesome and quirky t-shirts, so popular that they have been worn by Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory.

He is another artist whose works would be great both in your house or your bach; perfect for the proud kiwi, be they living at home or abroad.

Maiko Nagao

The beautiful colour palette that Maiko uses for all her work is the main reason she hits this list. Perfectly on trend, she uses muted colours and delicate print patterns to create serene and elegant art that will be perfect in any home.

Plus with a great range of kids art, her pieces are the perfect way to put artwork up in the kids room that you love looking as as much as they will.
